Terryville Bug-A-Fair 2026
The Terryville Bug-A-Fair returned this year with the strength and energy that have defined it for more than three decades. Now held every Fathers Day Sunday at the Terryville Fairgrounds in Connecticut, the event continues to thrive thanks to the dedication of the Connecticut Volkswagen Association and the support of the Terryville Lions Club. Their combined efforts keep the longest running VW show in the region moving forward year after year.

The Connecticut Volkswagen Association remains the backbone of the event, organizing every detail and ensuring the show maintains its welcoming atmosphere. The show is supported by a strong group of sponsors that help keep the tradition moving forward each year. Major support comes from Mitchell Volkswagen, along with Freccia Brothers Garage, Coventry Auto Sales and Service, Valley Imported, Cardone and Daughter Automotive, Masterseries Coatings, Johns Car Corner, Turbohand Performance, Vintage Diodes, and Wicked Werks. Their combined contributions help the event grow while staying true to its long running roots.

Attendance has changed over the years, but enthusiasm has not. Before the pandemic, the Bug-A-Fair regularly drew more than a thousand vintage Volkswagens. Today, the event sees about three hundred air cooled cars and another hundred water cooled models, filling the fairgrounds with a wide range of vehicles and owners. The mix creates a relaxed and friendly environment where longtime attendees and new visitors blend easily.

Perfect weather helped set the tone for this year's event, making it an
ideal day for families, enthusiasts, and campers. Camping has always been
part of the Bug-A-Fair tradition, with spectators, show participants, and
vendors settling into the field for the weekend. Fires must be kept in portable
pits, and the nights are cold, but the experience adds to the sense of community
that defines the show.

The swap meet continues to be one of the biggest attractions, growing larger each year and drawing vendors from across the region. It has become a sprawling marketplace where rare parts, vintage accessories, and hard to find treasures fill the grounds. The expansion of the swap area has turned it into a lively flea market that keeps visitors exploring throughout the day.

Food and entertainment help round out the experience. A DJ keeps music playing, an ice cream truck adds a nostalgic touch, and the Terryville Lions Club serves breakfast and lunch. Families attend in large numbers, and the fairgrounds welcome pets as well. Coloring activities for children and water stations for dogs help make the event accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Awards are a major part of the Bug-A-Fair, with forty classes recognizing a wide range of vehicles. A standout this year was a red twenty one window Bus that drew attention from many longtime attendees. The farthest traveled Volkswagen came from Canada, a reminder that the VW community knows no boundaries and continues to cross borders simply for the love of these cars. With more than four hundred show cars and over eighty vendors, the event offered plenty to see and appreciate.

The heart of the Bug-A-Fair remains the people who return year after year. Many have attended for decades, creating memories tied directly to the show and the cars they bring. Stories of families who never missed a year highlight how meaningful the event has become. With another successful show completed, planning for next year is already underway, ensuring the tradition continues.
